Make the most of your donation

OpenSats is a 501(c)(3) public charity. 100% of every sat donated to our open-source funds goes to grantees. Our own bills are paid out of a separate Operations Budget.

In total, OpenSats has allocated $27,367,030 USD to free and open-source projects and sent ~31.2 billion sats to 319 grantees in 32+ countries.

General Fund

Pays grants to Bitcoin developers and the FOSS projects Bitcoin depends on. Anyone can donate. 100% of donations go to grantees.

Past grants have paid for security research, privacy improvements, scaling proposals and implementations, contributors and maintainers of bitcoin-core, hardware wallets, ecash projects, fuzz testing, wallets, developer tooling, as well as translation and education work. The board reads every application that comes in and funds work that materially improves Bitcoin or the open-source projects it depends on.

Payout totals, bylaws, and year-end reports live on our transparency page. If you file taxes in the US, your gift may count as a tax-deductible donation to a 501(c)(3).
